Diy Dip Dyed Pillows

Diy dip dyed pillows, black and white bedroom

Dip dyeing is something I’ve wanted to do for a while, so when I came across a packet of fabric dye for about two euros, I decided to give it a try. It’s pretty easy to do and doesn’t cost much!

Things you will need:

Fabric (it has to be natural fibers, such as cotton, linen, wool or silk, I used natural color linen from Ikea)

Fabric dye

Big plastic bowl

Stirring stick

Water

Salt (check this from the instructions, the dye I used required salt)

Rubber gloves

Mix the dye according to the instruction in the package. Wet the fabric in water and squeeze the excess water out. Dip the fabric as far as you want the color to reach. Then pull the fabric out of the dye gradually, letting it sit a few minutes before pulling it further (I wanted to have a clear dip color edge rather than ombre, so I only moved it once and then let it sit).  Then squeeze the excess dye carefully (remember to use rubber gloves) and rinse the fabric alternating hot and cold water until the rinsing water is clear. Let the fabric dry.

When the fabric is dry, iron it on high to improve the color durability even more. Then you can use the fabric any way you want. I made new pillows for our bedroom. :)

Easy and very cool looking, isn’t it!

Have a nice weekend!

Diy Texture Pillow

I had some gray linen fabric that I wanted to use to make a decorative pillow. Instead of just making a basic one color pillow, I wanted to create a strong texture.

I folded and sewed the fabric so that it looks like a diamond pattern. I think it looks interesting and very rich in texture. I’m making a tutorial on how to make this, once I have the time and energy. I’ve had a bad cold the last few days and recovering takes time… But hopefully I can post it in a few weeks. :)

Crocheted Baskets: My First Video Tutorial

Diy crocheted basket

I made these crocheted baskets almost a year ago. I then didn’t add any pattern or instructions for them in this blog. My crochet baskets have been most popular of my projects in Pinterest recently and I’ve had several people asking me how to make them.

So I thought I could write instructions and decided it would be fun to make a video tutorial too (with the help of my lovely husband<3)!  So here it is: Diy crochet basket tutorial By Nimidesign:

Hope you like it!

Metal Candle Holder Makeovers

Metal candle holder makeover with paint before

Metal candle holder makeover with paint after

I bought these a week ago from a thrift store. I really liked the shape, but the paint was chipping and the dark green color was not really my favorite. I probably should have spray painted them, but I didn’t have enough black spray paint home, so I painted them using a brush (I can be so impatient sometimes!).

The result is not as smooth as I would have hoped for, but it’s enough for now. I can always spray paint them if I ever feel like the paint is bothering me too much. :) And now that they’re already black, I won’t need as much spray paint!
