My Workspace – Updated

Here’s how my workspace has changed since the last time I showed you:Black and white workspace with glossy white table

We bought two glossy white tabletops and metal legs from Ikea and made them look like one long table. The table is now 3 m wide and I love it! The space looks a lot more organized now and I have more work surface to use. And though the table is huge, it still looks light and airy because the white glossy surface reflects light. Perfect!

Dining Chairs Makeover Part 2

I finally finished my chairs!

Here’s how these chairs looked when I found them next to the garbage containers.

And here’s how they look now:

A big improvement, isn’t it! I removed the flaking veneer from the edge using a knife and used wood filler to make the edge smooth again. Then I sanded the chairs lightly and painted them. Easy and didn’t cost me anything! (I already had wood filler and paint)

Here you can see them in our kitchen:

I’m so happy that I have these chairs! They are so sturdy and now that they have been painted, they also look good. A great find + a bit of effort = affordable decor :) Love that!

Ps. I’m hopefully making some progress soon with my industrial style lamps (see part 1 here and part 2 here)… They’ve been taking longer that I expected. I have the concrete and the molds, but I still need to find time to make the bases. I already tested the concrete and made something of it… and I will show you soon what I made (and maybe after that my finished lamps). :)

Birthday!

Today is my 22nd and NimiDesign’s 1st birthday! Yay!

I’m just relaxing and enjoying my day today. Had an amazing brunch with my husband earlier and now I’m finishing up some projects.

I’ve been busy lately and would have wanted to have something nice to show you today, but instead I’m only showing some work in progress: dining chairs sanded and ready for paint!

Paint is drying as I type so hopefully I have something new to share soon… :)

Dining Chairs Makeover Part 1

I just found these dining chairs next to the garbage containers (the same ones I found this lamp from).

They’re a bit beat up, but very sturdy and similar to the ones we already have, you can see from this photo:

Well, the black one you see, which is pretty much identical to the chairs I found (except all black) is not very sturdy. The joints are a bit loose which makes it a bit wobbly. And the other black Ikea chair is nice but it’s so much higher than the other chairs, so it just doesn’t really fit in.

So, my plan is to fix and paint these free chairs and replace my current black chairs with them.

Sounds good? I think so. :)

Our New Sofa

Here I present to you, our new sofa:

Ektorp sofa in a black and white living room

Ektorp sofa in a black and white living room

Ektorp sofa in a black and white living roomAs you can see, we chose a white three-seater Ektorp sofa. We tested many sofas and this was the most comfortable one. My husband convinced me to buy the three-seater instead of the planned two-seater, saying it’s much more comfortable for lounging. And he’s right, it is. :)

It felt, and still feels, a bit too big for our living room… I guess it’s because our leather armchairs feel so tiny next to it! But I hope I’ll get used to it.

I have no idea how quickly the white cover gets dirty and how much work it takes to keep it clean. So this is an experiment. If it feels too difficult and time consuming, we’ll buy a gray cover for the sofa, if not, I think we’ll keep the white one. :)
