Today I’m going to show one of my diy projects hoping to inspire someone to see new possibilities in ordinary things. One day coming home I spotted a lamp left next to the garbage containers. I saw potential in it so I brought it home to see if it actually functioned. It did, so I started thinking what to do with it.

The glass shades were broken and ugly so they needed to go.. The frame was okay after i cleaned it well.
So, new shades for the lamp… I came across these Skurar white metal flowerpots in Ikea (1,75 euros/pot) and I realized that they’d make excellent shades for the lamp if turned upside down. They have a pretty lace pattern in them.

I drilled holes sized to match the lamp and attached them to the lamp. This is the finished lamp:

As good as new! This was such an easy diy project and took under an hour to make. Total costs: under 6 euros! Now this lamp is in our kitchen making everyday brighter!
Edit: Also featured in Ikea Hackers. See it here.
This is so clever I would never have thought of an idea like that well done.
Onnea, Minni+aviomiehen apu! Uusi, hieno blogi! Kaikki tuunaukset ovat tosi tyylikkäitä ja lamppu hurmaava! Kuule, Minni, minäkin olen aina tykännyt huonekaluista, joissa on kustavilaistyyppiset, alaspäin kapenevat sirot jalat! Tulen seuraamaan blogiasi !
