Crocheted Baskets: My First Video Tutorial

Diy crocheted basket

I made these crocheted baskets almost a year ago. I then didn’t add any pattern or instructions for them in this blog. My crochet baskets have been most popular of my projects in Pinterest recently and I’ve had several people asking me how to make them.

So I thought I could write instructions and decided it would be fun to make a video tutorial too (with the help of my lovely husband<3)!  So here it is: Diy crochet basket tutorial By Nimidesign:

This is a very simple and fast project to make: both of my crochet baskets took only a few hours to finish. They can be used to store and display so many things and because they are handmade, they are always unique. I crocheted cotton jersey that is used to make woven rugs. It’s thick and makes the basket stronger and also faster to make.

*EDIT 6.1.2013

I had several people asking me how to make a crocheted basket, so here are written instructions and my very first video tutorial!

Crocheted Basket:

The basket is worked in single crochet rounds that are joined with a slip stich. Every round is started with one chain, which will be counted as one single crochet.

 Single crochet = sc

Stitch = st

Slip stitch = sl st

Chain = ch

 Ch 6. Join with sl st to first ch to form a ring.

Row1: Ch 1, crochet two sc to every st around. Join with sl st.

Row2: Ch 1, * 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st *, repeat from * to * around. Join with sl st.

Row3: Ch 1, * 1 sc in next two st, 2 sc in next st *, repeat from * to * around. Join with sl st.

Row4: Ch 1, * 1 sc in next three st, 2 sc in next st *, repeat from * to * around. Join with sl st.

Row5: Ch 1, * 1 sc in next four st, 2 sc in next st *, repeat from * to * around. Join with sl st.

And so on.. So all the rows follow this pattern:

RowX: Ch 1, * 1 sc in next (X-1) st, 2 sc in next st *, repeat from * to * around. Join with sl st. (Insert row number in the place of X)

Continue adding rows till the circle is big enough for your baskets base.

Then sc in each st around, adding rows till the edge is high enough. Cut the yarn 10 cm away, make a sl st and pull the end of the yarn through. Weave in all ends.

And here you can watch the video tutorial:

Ps. I want to give credit to my lovely husband who helped me a lot with making this video, including filming and editing! You’re the best <3
